So as we bid adieu to 2012, a couple of thoughts …
As you can see from the 12 most visited posts, 2012 will go down as the year of :
- the acquisition (or consolidation)… primarily for distributors but there were some significant manufacturer ones (ABB acquiring T&B, Eaton acquiring Cooper, General Cable deals, Leviton and HAI, etc)
- LEDs gained traction
- a tale of two halves … for the first 6 months many saw growth only to see their sales “peter out” to flat by the end of the year
- more distributors than ever before benefit from the petrochem industry … with natural gas in multiple parts of the country generating business for distributors in multiple regions
- energy efficiency continue to represent an opportunity for enterprising distributors who don’t revert to solely bidding lighting projects
What else do you think were 2012 highlights?
As the calendar changes from 2012 to 2013, we wish you and your’s a happy and healthy New Year and may you achieve all of your 2013 goals. We look forward to sharing insights, opportunities and working with you in the coming year.
