Q1 2020 Pulse of Lighting Survey
The first quarter of 2020 is coming to a close and what a close. And it’s time for our Q1 Pulse of Lighting Survey.
It appears to have been a mild winter, which is good for the construction market, but with the coronavirus impacting the supply chain and now the US, the recent oil price “games” which are roiling the markets and lots of questions regarding conferences, the quarter is ending with more questions than we started with.
But there is one question that we know you know … How has your Q1 lighting business been?
Every quarter over 200 distributors, manufacturers, lighting agents and manufacturer reps share their insights … and we share the overall results back to respondents.
Pulse of Lighting Survey
William Blair, a leading investment banking firm with an industry leading industrial practice and interest in the lighting space has once again joined with Channel Marketing Group to gain the Pulse of the Lighting business. The beneficiary is you as we share results, complimentary, with you, enabling you to benchmark your performance versus the industry.
All information is aggregated and no distributor or manufacturer specific information is shared. All input is confidential and your contact information is only requested so we can send you a free copy of the results.
If you could take a few minutes (no more than 3) to answer the following questions we will get the results back to you by the end of the month. Thank you for your contribution to this industry initiative.
Lighting Industry Continues to Change
And, as you know, the lighting industry continues to change … as do the players!
- At Acuity there is a new change in leadership
- Signify closed their deal with Eaton and now owns Cooper Lighting Solutions. While they say “no changes”, discussions at the recent NAED SouthCentral with distributors revealed skepticism.
- On the day the deal closed, Cooper’s VP Channel Sales joined GE Current to become Chief Commercial Officer
- Legrand acquired FocalPoint, which reportedly had significant revenues. Legrand has been acquiring high quality, architecturally-oriented companies and then “leaving them alone” (albeit probably bringing some back office expertise / synergies). Reminiscent of the Genlyte Thomas strategy before they sold to Philips.
- Deco Lighting filed for Chapter 11 restructuring.
- But, as much as their is change, Halco reminds us that this is a relationship business and we can go “back to the future” by bringing back Jim Josko as part of its enhanced sales organization (along with experienced regional managers and a new VP Sales.)
