Mayer Promotes Three
Wes Smith, president of Mayer Supply, announced today that the Birmingham, AL-based electrical distributor has appointed East Region Vice President Mike Kidney to the position Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer. In this newly created role, Kidney will be charged with envisioning Mayer’s sales function of the future.
“Mike’s role will be focused on sales and sales strategy, evolving the current structure and strategies of today to the necessary structure and strategy to compete and win in the future,” Smith said. “This is the next logical step in our strategic evolution,” Smith added. “We have placed emphasis on our operational excellence and our digital capabilities, and it is now time to focus on the sales function of tomorrow,” he said. (As part of improving operational performance, Mayer closed seven branches earlier this fall.)
Smith also announced additional shifts in Mayer’s executive team. With Kidney’s new role, Mayer will consolidate the Northeast Region into the East Region, and current Northeast Region Vice President Scott Lawhead will take responsibility for the combined territory as East Region Vice President.
Additionally, Chief Operating Officer Mike Lamb has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer to reflect the emphasis and accomplishments of Mayer’s operating group.
Congratulations to Mike, Scott and Mike.
