The newly created Strategy and Business Development role will partner with senior leaders to shape strategic initiatives for the enterprise and individual business Segments, as well as assess the impact of changing industry dynamics on our business and formulating potential responses. This role will lead key strategic initiatives and inorganic opportunities that will accelerate our growth. They will lead the strategy and process for mergers and acquisitions as well as help identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with third parties and take responsibility for structuring and executing partnerships. This role, with their team will also drive the enterprise strategic planning process.
The Role
The Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, reporting to the CEO, is responsible for identifying key strategic opportunities, leading teams to assess potential market impacts, shaping analysis, and developing and communicating strategic recommendations that enhance nVent’s ability to achieve its growth objectives. This position leads the strategic planning process and facilitates strategic evaluation of business development opportunities. They collaborate cross-functionally across business Segments to achieve these objectives.

Responsibilities
- Lead strategic initiatives that drive the organization forward.
- Perform strategic, financial and analytical analysis and assessments on various growth opportunities, white space market entry or expansion opportunities, consistent with the strategic vision and direction of the enterprise and business Segments
- Perform portfolio management assessments against desired outcomes and metrics
- Draft and develop annual strategic plans, in coordination with enterprise process and in collaboration with each of the business Segments.
- Develop financial and valuation models for transactions and identify/assess opportunities and risks including financial, operational, and integration related.
- Partner with Enterprise and business Segment leadership to identify strategic needs and potential target companies/technologies to address needs.
- Lead cross-functional due diligence activities in partnership with Segment teams.
- Develop integration strategy, planning and execution, starting from the business case development via due diligence to execution and post-closing value capture.
- Establish, monitor and track transaction performance against value drivers, key performance indicators, milestones and metrics.
Skill Set Needed
- 12 or more years experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, strategic planning, and/or general management
- Bachelors Degree with a Business focus required Masters or MBA preferred
- Electrical industry experience
- Experience leading merger and acquisition strategy and transactions
- P&L Management experience preferred
- Business deal experience (investment banking, private equity or venture capital) preferred
- Strategic thinker with experience evaluating growth opportunities and developing comprehensive strategic business plans
- Analytical orientation with ability to create and interpret financial and market analyses
- Strong executive presence and verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide counsel to senior leaders, engage in healthy debate, and drive alignment around recommendations
- Innate curiosity and desire to develop an in-depth understanding of our industry and business Segments, staying current with industry trends and dynamics
- Sense of urgency and flexibility to lead multiple efforts simultaneously and meet tight deadlines with a deliverable-oriented, project management mindset
- Cross functional integration project management experience
- Effective at building relationships and engaging resources to achieve objectives; ability to create commitment and cohesiveness within teams; strong ability to influence others and outcomes
- Experienced people leader with ability to manage talent and drive a positive team culture, including recruiting, developing direct reports, and training
- Experience working with and presenting to all levels of management including CEO, and business Segment Presidents
