Lighting Lagging the Market?
Our Q3 Pulse of Lighting Survey is now open and we need your input by Tuesday, September 21. Available to all distributors, manufacturers and reps. Whether you’re in a branch or at corporate, we need your input. Share with us and we’ll provide you a free report with industry insights.
Q3 has now come and is essentially gone, and many are saying “good riddance.” Between the heat and humid, Delta Variant (are you tired of the phrase yet?) and “supply chain disruption” (another phrase to be tired with) as well as hurricanes and fires, there are enough reasons to want summertime to be gone.
From an electrical industry viewpoint, we hear of the dreaded “supply chain” and “port and container” issues that are the reasons for material delays. Price increases for many have continued (but not all). The construction market is still strong, especially compared to last year, but there are pockets of “cooling”. Lighting, in some areas, is impacted by construction challenges as it is frequently one of the later stages. So, delays push all timelines.
The industrial market is showing strength in some areas. Renovation is a mixed bag, especially with companies prolonging recalling staff and the hospitality industries struggling to hire and get back up to full speed.
Speaking about labor … contractors, and others, need labor too.
On the bright side, however, overall, the market is better than Q3 2021. Revenue is higher for all. Gross profit is higher. Hopefully net profit dollars are higher. The number of units? That may be questionable.
But what’s going on in the lighting market?
Q3 Pulse of Lighting Survey
To answer that question, we’ve just launched our Q3 Pulse of Lighting survey which again is sponsored by William Blair.
All we need is 2-3 minutes of your time. We need input from distributors, manufacturers, and manufacturer reps. All input is confidential, and respondents can receive a free copy of the report later this month.
The benefit … the ability to benchmark your performance against the industry.
Key insights we’re looking for include:
- Sales performance
- Q4 outlook
- The effect of price increases and your prediction of if they will continue
- What market segments are “growing”
- Product mix insights (discretionary products vs specification products), and
- Your observations on marketplace opportunities / challenges
We need your input by Tuesday, September 21st. To take the survey, click here.
