Q4 2021 Pulse of Lighting Survey – The Year Closes with Bang
Q4, and 2021, is quickly coming to an end and with that it’s time for our Q4 Pulse of Lighting survey.
Much continued to go on within the industry with manufacturers, distributors, reps and lighting agents sharing:
- A market that is becoming more “challenged” and, geographically, uneven. There are pockets of strength driven by projects and then areas where it is slow.
- Price increases were announced; however, price realization seems to not be fully occurring
- Continued supply chain issues affect many, which isn’t much of a surprise. Feedback is “expect this to continue at least to mid-year, more likely through the year.”
And this quarter we heard of:
- Continued agency consolidation
- Some manufacturer acquisitions headlined by GE Current’s acquisition of Hubbell Lighting’s C&I business.
- Southwire’s acquisition of Topaz which puts a leading wire / cable manufacturer into the lighting space to pursue distributor-controlled opportunities.
- and possibly more deals coming soon.
And LightFair occurred. While it wasn’t the extravaganza of prior years, with the right expectations it could be deemed a success. And to extend the benefit, LightFair has made the educational sessions available online via LightFair Connect.
