MDM Top Distributor Rankings
Each year MDM (Modern Distribution Management) develops its Top Distributor rankings. They identify the top 25 distributors from the prior year (2021) in the following industries:
- Electrical, Data & Security
- Industrial
- MRO Industrial
- Building Materials/Construction
- HVACR/Plumbing/PVF
- Power Transmission/Bearings
- Fluid Power
- Hose/Accessories
- Electronics
- Gases/Welding Equipment
- Specialty Adhesives
- Fasteners
- Safety
- Jan-San
- Plastics
The report, with distributor rankings and revenue, will be coming out shortly.
To introduce the rankings MDM is holding a webinar on Thursday, July 21st for the “unveiling.” I’m honored that they asked me to be on their industry consultant panel.
MDM press release
“Join MDM Executive Editor Mike Hockett and CEO Tom Gale, along with distribution sector consultants Craig Webb (President of Webb Analytics and focused on the Building Supplies industry), Ernie Coutermarsh (a 50+ year distribution veteran in the plumbing and PVF industry , Chris Dirx (CFO of Imperial Dade, a large packaging distributor with insights into many industrial segments) and David Gordon, for our most anticipated webcast of the year! MDM’s annual Top Distributors Rankings, which reports on the top 150+ distributors across numerous product sectors, will be discussed on July 21, 2022.
On this 60-minute webcast, we’ll discuss the impacts that the lasting COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain chaos, labor market and pricing had on major distributors last year, including their 2021 revenue performance. Besides our new company rankings, you’ll gain insights into trends that carried into 2022 and how they may impact our lists for next year.”
So, we’re talking about:
- Distributors
- Last year’s business dynamics and, more importantly, how they have translated into this year and could impact “beyond”
- Some areas will probably be commodities, technology, labor (cost and shortage), digital buying, analytics, COVID, supply chain, inflation, re-shoring as some possible areas
and I’m sure we’ll talk about
- 2022 first half and outlook dynamics
- More about distributors
- Technology’s role / impact (or “digitalization”)
The problem is that we’ll only have 60 minutes but, if there is enough attendance and interest, maybe MDM will host a “Part 2” to continue the conversation.
I’ll try to focus on electrical but, knowing the panelists, we all can have a tendency to “share”, so should be interesting.
