General Manager Lighting Role
Schreder, who recently purchased Ligman Lighting, is seeking a General Manager for Ligman.
The General Manager role will lead the day-to-day activities of the newly acquired business entity in Hillsboro, OR.
The GM will have P&L responsibility for the business unit and serve as an integral member of the broader Schreder North America senior leadership team. This role will encompass leadership of all facets of the business onsite as well as working within a matrix structure relative to the sales function and will serve as the key interface with the manufacturing plant in Southeast Asia.
Main responsibilities include:
- Lead the daily operations of the business including direct oversight of local production/operations, in-house product certification lab, procurement, pre- and post-sale technical support, product management, sales operations/order fulfillment and lighting applications.
- Development of a 5-year plan and growth strategy to drive double digit growth.
- Partner with Marketing, Finance, HR and IT which are set up as shared service functions.
- Parter with Finance to develop annual budgets and create mechanism for providing reliable forecasts.
- In partnership with the VP of Sales and Marketing Director, design a go-to-market strategy to better influence key stakeholders in the value chain (end users, lighting designers, landscape architects, distributors, contractors, etc.).
- Develop close knit relationships with the agent/rep network across North America particularly at the principal/owner level.
- Drive product development/roadmap effort in conjunction with the manufacturing plant in Southeast Asia and the Schreder Group; assess the potential integration of Schreder products into the broader portfolio.
- Drive strategy for connected lighting within the customer base in line with Schreder’s global ambitions.
- Create and provide visibility to critical KPI’s for the business.
- Gain in-depth knowledge of the competitive landscape to enhance company’s competitive positioning in the market.
Key Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline (mechanical or electrical engineering) is strongly preferred; MBA considered a plus.
- Prior outdoor lighting industry experience (minimum of 10 years) as either a General Manager or product/business segment leader; international exposure is a huge plus.
- 15+ years of relevant experience with technical products within an industry with long and complex sales cycles.
- Proven track record of driving business through a manufacturer’s rep / lighting agent network that influences the sales process through driving specifications.
