Take the Q2 Pulse of Lighting Survey; Receive Free Report
Aside from June being the beginning of summer, it’s also the last month of the quarter … which means it’s time for the Q2 Pulse of Lighting Survey!
Q1, if you’ll remember, was slow. Weather, natural disasters, February announcement that “tariffs are coming.”
And our Q1 report highlighted the pain.
Which brings us to Q2
The month started with the tariff announcement, followed by the pullback.
For manufacturers and distributors, it meant lots of price increase announcement and system adjustments. In some cases, announcements haven’t resulted in complete (or any) implementation due to the pause. In other cases, they were implemented and there may be pullbacks.
Everyone seems to agree that we’re in the “waiting” stage. Once the pause is lifted, maybe the fog gets cleared. Some increases get put through, others revised, some pulled back, some left and are open to negotiation.
Over the quarter I noticed some personnel pruning by a number of lighting companies with even the #1 lighting company, based upon revenue, having a RIF that affected a number of experienced people.
And this quarter there were a number of smaller lighting manufacturers that were acquired and lighting agent consolidation continued.
The net was that the slowdown from Q1 reportedly was replaced with “back to normal”, which means business activity.
So, how has your Q2 lighting business been? Take our survey and we’ll share industry results from distributors, reps / lighting agents, and manufacturers at the end of the month.
We’ve conducted this for 8 years for William Blair. Regularly 200+ people in the electrical / lighting industry participate. We need your feedback by June 18.
Thank you for your support. Survey respondents that share their contact information receive will receive a free copy of the report.
