NSI Positioning for Accelerated Growth; Saganowich Joins as Electrical President
NSI industries has grown significantly over the past few years. Since being acquired by Odyssey Investment Partners in 2019, the company has invested into acquisitions, people, infrastructure, resources and more.
A key element is that the company now has three growth platforms – electrical, HVAC and Building Technology
Within the electrical industry alone they have acquired:
They’ve also added a number of product categories, inclusive of a broad range of tape.
The company is also getting ready to move into a new company headquarters and open a new electrical distribution center later this month.
With so much going on, the company is restructuring itself to bring leadership to each of its divisions.
Saganowich Joins NSI
The first of the new divisional leaders is Joe Saganowich. Saganowich, formerly the Vice President of Sales for IDEAL Electric, where he spent 23 years, joined NSi as President – Electrical Division effective Monday, August 22nd.
According to an internal NSI memo from G.R. Schrotenboer, CEO of NSI,
“Subject: Joe Saganowich Joins NSI
Dear NSI team,
I am pleased to announce the new leader of our Electrical Division—Joe Saganowich. Joe’s first day with NSI is today, and he will report directly to me as part of the NSI leadership team.
Joe joins us from IDEAL Industries, where served most recently as VP of sales and marketing for IDEAL’s North American Electrical Group. As Electrical Division president, he will lead and have full P&L ownership of the Electrical division and is responsible for growing our electrical business including the Bridgeport, Polaris, TORK, Metallics and Remke brands. Over the next several weeks the Electrical Division team under Joe will be formalized and include all the electrical division site leaders as well as divisional function team members from sales, finance, product management, marketing, sourcing, distribution, and customer service.
Joe has deep experience in the electrical and manufacturing industries, having worked as VP and general manager of SK Hand Tool, a division of IDEAL, and was its Southeast regional sales manager for the electrical group. Joe has led sales teams for commercial and industrial lubrications groups of Pennzoil-Quaker State Products, SouthChem, Inc., and SONOCO. He has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Pennsylvania State University.
Please join me in welcoming Joe to the NSI team.
G.R.
While Joe is focused on driving integration and growth in the electrical segment, the company, according to an Indeed posting, is also seeking an HVAC division manager and has acquired Duro Dyne and most recently SUPCO.
In the Building Technology segment, the company acquired Sullstar, TechLogix, Platinum Tools and Lynn Electronics.
And, in reality, a number of the acquired companies have products that may be applicable in multiple distribution segments.
According to GR, a key in hiring leaders for these “divisions” is finding “the right blend of commercial and manufacturing background to run the division.”
For those who know Joe … and that is many electrical distributors and manufacturer reps, Joe has strong commercial and manufacturer background, is well versed regarding the rep community (and serves on the NEMRA NMG (NEMRA Manufacturer Group) and has been deeply involved with NECA initiatives over the years.
Congratulations to Joe on the new opportunity to lead a growing company into its next phase. And congratulations to GR for recruiting a strong team.
The question becomes … what’s next for NSI Electrical (we might as well have expectations of Joe) and NSI overall. An impressive streak of acquisitions, product introductions and new initiatives.
