FGR Acquires SERG, Expands to East
Just like electrical distributors are deciding their future with a number deciding to sell as companies go through generational change and succession decisions, so are independent electrical manufacturer representatives, which creates opportunities to expand their footprint while also retaining distinctive linecards. Synergies occur when agencies identify new ways to support their business and can leverage technology platforms.
Such a deal recently occurred in the Southwest wih FGR’s acquisition of SERG, according to this recent press release:
“Future Global Representative Group (FGR), a leading provider of sales and marketing solutions for electrical manufacturers serving distributors in the commercial, industrial, and residential sector, announced today that it has acquired Southeast Electrical Rep Group (SERG), a regional sales agency based in Covington, Louisiana
The acquisition will expand FGR’s presence and capabilities in the Southeastern United States, where it has supported customers in Texas and Oklahoma markets for six years. Key lines include, Wesanco ZSI Foster, Penn Aluminum Conduit, Rex Power Magnetics, Permacote.
SERG, which has served customers in Louisiana and Mississippi states, has been in business for over 20 years. SERG represents some of the most respected brands in the industry, such as Anamet, Orbit Electric, Meltric, TPI Corporation and Rex Power Magnetics.
While part of the FGR family, SERG will retain its own name and line card in its market. Line decisions will remain specific to a geographic market.
“We are thrilled to welcome SERG to the FGR family,” said Ken Polk, CEO of FGR. “SERG shares our vision of delivering exceptional value and service to our clients and partners. Together, we will leverage our combined strengths and expertise to offer innovative and customized solutions that meet the evolving needs of the electrical market.”
“Joining FGR is a great opportunity for us to grow and enhance our business,” said Roy Koch, founder, and president of SERG. “FGR has a proven track record of success and a reputation for excellence in the industry. We are excited to be part of their team and look forward to working with them to create new synergies and opportunities for our customers and suppliers.”
Combined the two companies will have approximately 20 people serving these markets.
The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal closed on October 4, 2023.
