Sonepar Acquires Industrial Automation Solutions Provider
Given the growth occurring in the industrial market, Sonepar is expanding its offerings and bringing more to its process-oriented businesses, and other industrial facilities with its acquisition of EOSYS.
Not Familiar with EOSYS
EOSYS is an industrial automation solutions provider helping manufacturers automate, connect and modernize complex operations. Headquartered in Smyrna, Tennessee, EOSYS is one of Rockwell Automation’s inaugural U.S.-based Platinum Systems Integrator Partners and was named the 2025 Integrator Member of the Year by the Control System Integrators Association.
According to their website, key industries that they serve include food and beverage, chemical, CPG, Spirits, Pulp & Paper, Metals, Energy & Utilities, and Automotive.
They offer services in the areas of industrial automation, industrial digital transformation, panel fabrications and electrical control solutions.
Sonepar isn’t the first electrical distributor to expand its offering into the services’ business through acquisition. A few years ago, Border States acquired an engineering business and over the past few years Wesco has acquired a storeroom management company and a number of companies that support the data center segment.
Sonepar Acquires EOSYS
Sonepar has acquired EOSYS, an industrial automation solutions provider, expanding its ability to serve the increasing needs of a broad range of industrial customers. EOSYS’ engineering-led perspective will help Sonepar build the operational, technical, and delivery disciplines required to support more complex solutions at scale.
As the complexity of industrial systems increases, customers across the market need partners with cross-disciplinary expertise and services. EOSYS adds proven expertise in automation, engineering, and digital transformation, expanding Sonepar’s capabilities, creating new opportunities for growth, and enhancing the value delivered to customers and partners. EOSYS is one part of a broader ecosystem of systems integrator partners that remains critical to our strategy and our ability to connect customers with the right capabilities for each opportunity.
“Sonepar continuously makes investments to support customers as their needs evolve,” said Rob Taylor, President Sonepar Americas. “EOSYS will enable us to deliver a better customer experience by adding specialized capabilities that complement our current industrial services offerings like panel design and assembly, power substation engineering and distribution, and switchgear panel assembly. We’re pleased to welcome EOSYS to the Sonepar network.”
Founded in 1991, EOSYS helps manufacturers automate, connect, and modernize operations across a wide range of industries. With headquarters in Smyrna, Tennessee, EOSYS has offices across the United States.
“For more than three decades, EOSYS has focused on earning our customers’ trust and building partnerships that last,” said David Lax, President of EOSYS. “Sonepar shares those values. I’m excited about the opportunities this creates for our employees, our customers, and the future.”
Take Away
- A services addition for Sonepar which could be very impactful as it is expanded to support all Sonepar OpCo’s and serve key customers. If it becomes part of a solutions sales offering, with material, could be very influential in winning business.
- Indication that Sonepar sees how value-added services can be a differentiator. For most distributors this is a challenge to compete against, unless it has in-house talent, given concern about “competing against other local engineers / system integrators.”
- This type of service, which can become a valued partner within an end-user, can also be an MRO generator or a reason for a company to consolidate their MRO spend.
