Rexel Makes Changes
As some know, Rexel made a number of changes within its operations a couple of weeks ago. While we didn’t post anything about this as we had rumours but no details, last week a few people shared some information, and asked some questions, albeit in a different posting. This posting is being put up to aggregate people’s comments and to share other insights.
Industry feedback that we’ve heard is that Rexel could benefit from clearly communicating a strategy to all audiences. In the words of one distributors, “they are helping us grow our business by taking share.”

Rexel implemented a massive reorganization last week with the termination of an estimated 300 employees on the eastern seaboard and the southeast. Mark Daniel announced his plans for reorganization on 10/25 which included a change from four divisions to seven. All appeared well until Tuesday morning when various HR teams started to appear at dozens of branches. The chaos continued thru Thursday. I was one of the casualties and I am a bit confused as my branches had done very well for the past eighteen months. In fact, I had turned them around to the extent that they had become very profitable. Am I bitter? Absolutely. The termination process was handled very poorly and it was classless.
Not sure where this leaves Rexel. The remaining employees from the top down are not leaders who have an abundance of experience within our industry and i am of the opinion that something will collapse in the very near future. With Bob Compagna’s retirement last month and Mr. Daniel’s desire to morph Rexel in to the Allen Bradley distributor of choice it does not appear that things are looking very good for Rexel.

P____ on Rexel. They along with several other French companies have sought to European the US market. How’s that working for you now days?
With CED moving their corporate to the DFW area, the manufacturer will have a good reason to call on CED.
Rexel is a shell on a company from the once proud days of Summers. It is typical of the arrogance that most French companies have.
There will be continued shrinkage in the capacity of the electrical market.
With NEMA siding with the big box stores it might be a reflection that Electrical Manufacturers see more profit from retail than they do from distribution.

RexHell has ruined several great companies. Southland Electric, Southern Electric Supply, Summers Electric, Consolidated Electric, and on and on. The French think anyone making over 50k is over paid. They want Executives who just do what they tell them to do. Mark Daniels? What has he ever done? Where has he taken over a teriitory, or even a branch for that matter and created ROS…answer: NEVER.The French bastards are getting what they deserve another good ass kicking, and just like WWII, they just depend on someone else to do all the dirty work for them. I say they should be banned from owning a business in the US. They have a monopoly with Sonepar in Franch, and thats what they want to do here. I urge all folks in this industry to stay as far away from them as possible, and run their ass back to France.
But the real culprits are the vendors that sell these scumbags and give them 10-15% back end deals….find out who those vendors are and boycott them as well
And Contractors, please stop supporting these French arrogant pricks, they are destroying our market.

Well said.
I’d like to find a list of former Rexel employees….some of those people are good at what they do.
If someone has that list maybe you forward it to Allen or David and I’m pretty sure they would post it somewhere on ET
Again, we’re just pulling these out of last week’s posting so we can organize the information. Feel free to share … and quite honestly, maybe change is good, and good luck to Mark Daniels (and if someone does have a list or knows of some people, feel free to contact us. We’ve had at least 2 distributors ask as well as an electrical industry recruiter – perhaps we can help someone.)
