A Jersey Original

0 New Jersey is known for a few things … the crossing of the Delaware, Bruce Springsteen and Griffith Electric, to name a few. The commonality of these three are American initiatives.
As we get ready to celebrate July 4th, and before everyone takes off for the week, we thought we’d highlight an innovative, patriotic, strategy from Griffith Electric.
For those who don’t know, Griffith, based in Trenton, NJ, has been in business for almost 75 years. They are a 5 location distributor and one that is trying to make a difference for our economy.
The company recently launched a strategy called “Powered by America“. Essentially they are partnering with selected suppliers (whom they vetted based upon how much of their product is made in the USA) to promote products that are made by U.S. employees. There are 21 suppliers involved in the program. The thinking … “What better way to reduce unemployment and rebuild the economy than by purchasing US made products. Essentially, how do we ‘keep America strong’?”
And here’s the 10 reasons why Griffith feels customers should buy, and distributors should promote, “buy American”.
According to Ron Lim, “Our hope is that more distributors pick up this theme and promote American made products to their customers. IT’S GOOD FOR ALL OF US!!”
In looking at the list, not all of the manufacturers make everything they sell in the US. Admitted Ron, “If we only had suppliers that made ALL of their products only in the USA we would ended up with very few manufacturers.”
So, for Springsteen fans, this is the time to celebrate that you’re “Born in the USA”, or, as you prepare for next week, consider Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to be an American” and purchase accordingly (if you have a choice).

Have a happy Fourth of July
