Rosedin Electric, one of the largest electrical contractors in the country and one that more and more electrical distributors and reps are interacting with as they support / install projects throughout the country, has a strong emphasis on safety … as you’d expect.
The company announced that D. Scott Risch is their new VP of Environmental, Health, and Safety.
And to emphasize the importance of the role … it reports to the CEO.
According to the press release:
“Rosendin, the nation’s largest employee-owned electrical contracting company, announces D. Scott Risch, CSP, CHST, as its Vice President of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) reporting to Keith Douglas, Chief Executive Officer. Scott brings over 25 years of experience in the global construction industry building cross-functional, multi-site teams dedicated to keeping workers safe.
As VP of EHS, Risch will lead new initiatives to ensure that workplaces are safe and secure while building upon the company’s commitment to the health and wellness of every employee and craft worker.
“The safety and the well-being of our employees and craft workers is Rosendin’s top value. Scott brings a proven track record for building safe, collaborative work environments by implementing programs that mitigate risk and address site-specific challenges,” said Douglas. “We welcome his expertise in regulatory compliance and data analysis to identify opportunities that will build on Rosendin’s already solid safety practices.”
Risch recently served as a Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental for The Walsh Group – Walsh Construction & Archer Western, overseeing programs supporting $6B in construction services focusing on successfully improving the safety culture. His drive for continuous improvement launched new training, programs, and technologies that led to significant reductions in incident rates.

I am honored to join the team,” said Risch. “My vision for growing Rosendin’s strong safety culture is to connect our employees around the value of making safety a personal priority. By further utilizing data analysis to identify trends, we can prevent injuries for all workers, whether they are in an office or on a job site.”
Early in his career, Risch served as a master licensed electrician and led field safety programs in Iraq as a contractor for the Department of Defense in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Additionally, he holds certifications as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Risch earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety from Eastern Kentucky University and is completing an MBA program in construction management.”
As every distributor and rep knows, with the right products, a great time to interact with a contractor is during their safety meetings. The key is keeping it short, sweet, on message and it needs to be relevant to the type of work that they do.
If I was a manufacturer … and I had a safety or environmental message that would be pertinent to Scott, perhaps I’d consider a targeted direct mail endeavor with a sample and a personalized message / video that emphasizes how you can help him help / protect his people. Schmaltzy sales pitches can stay home!
