Schaedler Yesco Celebrates 100, Shares Historical Timeline
Two things typically occur when you get to be 100 years old …
- You are celebrated
- You may tend to forget a few of your accomplishments and need to be reminded (or so I’m told!)
Schaedler Yesco is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year … congratulations to Schaedler Yesco and the Schaedler family.
According to a recent press release, “2024 marks the 100th continuous year of operation for family- and employee-owned Schaedler Yesco Distribution. From hometown seller to world-class service provider, the company is celebrating its past while embracing its future.
The company started the year by celebrating the acquisition of two new locations in Grove City and Clarion, PA, bringing its total roster to 29 locations throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York. The contiguous acquisition further solidified Schaedler Yesco’s commitment to the western PA and eastern OH markets and continued Schaedler Yesco’s growth plan.
Festivities continued in March with the company’s 2024 Expo East at the Hershey Convention Center. The event, held biannually, drew more than 1100 people and offered over 75 learning opportunities and more than 100 exhibits and hands-on demonstrations, including a live EV Charger demonstration. (Schaedler Yesco recorded and posted all of its training sessions online, enabling customers to revisit sessions and participate in ones that they didn’t get to plus, those who couldn’t attend can now gain the same knowledge. There are 40 sessions online!) A similar event, 2024 Expo West, will be held September 18th at River’s Casino in Pittsburgh, the inaugural Expo event in the company’s western territory.
“It’s an exciting year for us,” said President Farrah Mittel. “We’re growing, we’re planning an event unlike any other the Western PA market has ever seen, and it’s our anniversary year. There’s a lot to celebrate.”
Although operational since October, Schaedler Yesco’s new 90,000-square-foot Regional Distribution Center just north of Pittsburgh recently celebrated its grand opening with training sessions, vendor displays, tours of the facility, and a BBQ lunch on April 24th. The crowd of customers and vendors was joined by city officials welcoming the company to Lower Burrell, PA. Schaedler Yesco was able to repurpose a vacant JC Penney store, bringing vitality, and jobs, to the area.
The company will hold a variety of local events and promotions throughout the balance of the year to celebrate the milestone with customers.
The 16-time designee, as one of the Best Places to Work in PA, will gather all employees and their guests in Harrisburg this October for a night of festivities and fun to help culminate the centennial year.”
While many companies celebrate anniversaries with a tradeshow and an employee event, Schaedler Yesco brought its history to life.
The company paid homage to its history by gathering historical photos and a timeline that documents its history and then posted it all online. Click here to see 44 photos (and there are more on the bottom, inclusive of people) and a video that shares the history of the company … with even more photos of people, locations and products. And they touch on the history of York Electric Supply (which became the YESCO part to the company name.)
The company timeline touches on 54 company milestones.
Congratulations to Schaedler Yesco on reaching 100 and remembering its past while it continues to drive ahead in securing its future in a consolidating industry. This 4th generation company shows that independents can be successful.
Schaedler Yesco Celebrates 100, While Embracing the Future and Marketing to Future Employees
If you were interviewing with Schaedler Yesco and saw this page, what would be your impression of the company? A place you’d be interested in working at?
Schaedler Yesco’s time investment in developing this page is a tribute to how they view their history and their people. This would resonate with prospective employees who have similar values, which is what they want to recruit for. Consider how you your company is portrayed on its website. Would it position you as an “employer of choice”?
I have no idea if Schaedler Yesco has integrated this into their interviewing process or perhaps is marketing it within its geographic area and to hiring locales, but it begs some food for thought.
And further, if you were a customer, what would you think about learning the history of a key supplier? Does it give you a different appreciation of them (especially if you are relationship-oriented … and we know that the contractor side of the business is relationship-driven?)
