AI Agents, Process Intelligence, and Automation Are Transforming Distributors
Infor held their Velocity Week last week where they brought together customers to share updates and case studies, all in an effort to help distributors improve profitability and scalability.
Mary Bennett, VP Sales for NSA Computer Exchange, an Infor implementation resource, shared highlights with ElectricalTrends.
Highlights from Infor Velocity Week 2026
“What an exciting week in Orlando at Infor Velocity Week 2026! The NSA Computer Exchange team joined Infor executives, industry leaders, and customers to explore the latest innovations in CloudSuite Distribution (CSD) and Infor Velocity Suite.
Infor CEO Kevin Samuelson and CTO Soma Somasundaram kicked off the event with a powerful vision for the Agentic Enterprise, where AI agents, automation, and process intelligence work together to transform how businesses operate.
For distributors already running Infor CloudSuite Distribution, the message was especially exciting:
You’ve already invested in a powerful, modern ERP platform. Now it’s time to leverage that foundation to drive greater productivity, improve profitability, and automate business processes with Infor Velocity Suite.
Moving from ERP Transactions to Intelligent Business Operations
Infor continues to invest heavily in CloudSuite Distribution, delivering enhancements specifically designed for wholesale distributors.
But perhaps the most exciting opportunity isn’t simply new ERP functionality. It’s how Infor Velocity Suite extends the value of CSD through AI, process intelligence, and automation.
Imagine a business environment where:
- Purchasing teams spend less time identifying shortages and more time optimizing supplier relationships and inventory investments.
- Customer service representatives have AI-assisted insights to respond faster to customer inquiries, pricing requests, and order issues.
- Warehouse and operations teams can identify process bottlenecks before they impact fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
- Finance teams reduce manual invoice processing, improve accuracy, and accelerate financial workflows.
- Management teams gain greater visibility into operational inefficiencies and opportunities to improve margins.
These are the types of opportunities that Infor’s investments in AI and automation are designed to address.
The evolution from traditional ERP to an Agentic Enterprise means moving beyond simply recording transactions to using technology to help employees make decisions and take action.
Infor Velocity Suite: Where AI Meets Business Value
One of the biggest highlights of Velocity Week was the continued advancement of Infor Velocity Suite.
Velocity Suite brings together technologies that can help distributors transform their operations:
Industry-Specific AI Agents
AI agents designed to support business processes can help employees access information, evaluate options, and execute tasks more efficiently.
Process Intelligence
Gain visibility into how your business processes are actually performing. Identify bottlenecks, unnecessary steps, and opportunities to streamline operations.
Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
Reduce repetitive, manual tasks that consume valuable employee time and introduce opportunities for errors.
Generative AI
Make it easier for employees to access information, interact with systems, and gain insights using natural-language capabilities.
Agentic AI
Move toward intelligent workflows where AI agents can coordinate activities and support actions across business processes, with appropriate controls and human oversight.
The real value comes from combining these capabilities—not implementing them independently.
For example, Process Intelligence can help identify an inefficient purchasing workflow, while automation and AI can help address the underlying issues.
The result? Less manual work, faster processes, improved accuracy, and more time for employees to focus on activities that drive revenue and profitability.
Customers Are Already Seeing Results
One of the most valuable aspects of Infor Velocity Week was hearing directly from customers about their experiences.
Rather than simply discussing what AI might accomplish someday, customers shared how they are already leveraging Infor technologies to improve business processes and achieve measurable value.
This is particularly important for wholesale distributors facing continued pressure to improve margins, control operating costs, and deliver exceptional customer service.
AI isn’t just a technology initiative. It’s an opportunity to improve business performance.
And the best place to start is often with the processes your employees struggle with every day.
Where Should Your Organization Start?
For existing CSD customers, the question is no longer whether AI will impact wholesale distribution.
The question is: Where can AI and automation deliver the greatest value to your business today?
At NSA, we recommend beginning with a focused assessment of your current business processes and identifying opportunities such as:
- Accounts Payable Automation: Reduce manual invoice entry, improve processing efficiency, and minimize errors.
- Purchasing and Inventory Management: Identify opportunities to improve replenishment, supplier performance, and inventory productivity.
- Order Processing and Customer Service: Reduce manual activities, accelerate response times, and improve the customer experience.
- Financial and Operational Processes: Identify workflow inefficiencies and opportunities to streamline approvals, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Process Intelligence: Discover where delays, rework, and unnecessary manual steps are costing your organization time and money.
Not every distributor needs to start in the same place.
The key is selecting a few high-impact opportunities, establishing measurable objectives, and building on early successes.
NSA Services: Turning Infor Velocity Suite into Business Results
Technology alone doesn’t deliver business value. The right implementation strategy, business process expertise, and user adoption are what turn technology investments into measurable results.
NSA Computer Exchange is certified to implement all aspects of Infor Velocity Suite, and our consulting team brings decades of experience working exclusively with wholesale distributors.
We understand the operational challenges distributors face—from purchasing and inventory management to order processing, warehousing, financial operations, and customer service.
Our approach is focused on helping customers:
- Identify opportunities: Evaluate existing CSD processes and determine where AI, automation, and Process Intelligence can have the greatest impact.
- Prioritize investments: Build a practical roadmap focused on business value rather than technology for technology’s sake.
- Implement Velocity Suite: Configure and deploy the appropriate capabilities based on your business requirements.
- Train and enable employees: Help your teams understand and adopt new workflows and AI capabilities.
- Measure results and expand: Evaluate improvements and identify additional opportunities to maximize your investment.
Whether you’re just beginning to explore Velocity Suite or are ready to expand your use of AI and automation, NSA can help you develop a practical, phased approach.
You don’t need to transform your entire business overnight. Start with one process, demonstrate the value, and build from there.
Your CSD Investment Is the Foundation. Velocity Suite Is the Next Step.
We left Infor Velocity Week energized by Infor’s vision, continued investment in CloudSuite Distribution, and the opportunities available to our customers.
The future of distribution isn’t just about having a modern ERP system. It’s about leveraging that system to operate smarter, faster, and more profitably.
Your organization has already made an important investment in CloudSuite Distribution.
Now is the time to explore how Infor Velocity Suite can help you get even more value from that investment.

ElectricalTrends Thoughts
Thank you, Mary, for the insights on Velocity and sharing some of Infor’s new initiatives.
Some thoughts:
- For the past couple of years many in the electrical industry, after speaking with many AI companies that “bolt-on” to an ERP system have asked, “when are the ERPs going to have AI tools?”, the answer appears that “they are now deploying them. In the case of Infor, this is available when distributors are on, or move to Cloudsuite.
- If you are on CDS and are thinking of, or have, bolt-on tools, you should inquire about Infor’s AI tools. They are already integrated into the system. They should be cost-effective, and they should have tight integration.
- From a standalone AI provider viewpoint, this means that these companies will need to sharpen their value proposition. Why buy a bolt-on when your ERP provider already offers the solution? There could be good reasons but, worst case, there is another competitor in the room.
Infor’s evolution is also an indication of AI’s growing maturity in the electrical distribution industry. (Distributors – take our survey … interesting trends are emerging. Results will be shared soon in a white paper.)
